Plastic film recycling

Plastic film recycling represents, together with PET Bottles, one of the most important sections and sources of income of the recycling market. This is due to the huge amount of plastic film wastes available on recycling market.
The different plastic film materials available in the recycling market can be basically divided into three big families:

SOREMA installed its first film recycling line in 1974, destined to PE film with few contaminations and for production outputs ranging between250 and 500 kg/h. Today, thanks to its long experience and to the constant evolution of its technologies, SOREMA can assure its customers the best solutions to fully cover the needs of the recycling market in relation to many product families and plastic packagings, without limitations on the initial presence of contaminants and with production outputs up to 6.000 kg/h.

Every film recycling line is represented by three main sections and processes: washing, extrusion, and water treatment. Each one of these sections must be correctly designed and with the others in order to reach the quality and quantity targets of the recycling project.
The presence of contaminated or not appropriately filtered and treated water will compromise the quality of the washing process, the floating efficiency, and wear of machine parts.

Along with energy consumption, water quality is an aspect of paramount importance. SOREMA has always been paying particular attention to this issue and invested significantly in quality control. For instance, each one of SOREMA’s recycling lines is equipped with specific in-line systems for water recirculation and filtration.
Moreover, SOREMA also is capable of studying and integrating specific waste water treatment solutions. These include chemical andphysical, biological treatments. Other treatments may be introduced if required by the process waste water.  Of course, these considerations are valid for film recycling plants as well as any other washing line.

The high level of contaminants often present in waste deriving from the film recycling process, it is absolutely necessary to be continuously updated on the technologies and technical solutions available, in order to properly process the most difficult and contaminated materials and reach the best possible final quality. SOREMA is capable of delivering such a result, also thanks to its continued cooperation with clients.
