rPET flakes for pet Strapping

Another important application in PET recycling regards PET strapping production.
SOREMA can offer different solutions in terms of both technologies and capacities (from 500 to 9.000 kg/h output).

Every SOREMA PET washing line is specifically designed for customers’ needs. We design, engineer and manufacture each of our PET recycling lines based on the characteristics of input materials as well as on the requirements of the final product and application.

For all these reasons, SOREMA PET recycling lines can produce rPET flakes of highest quality, suitable also for strapping production.

Strapping is widely used in the packaging industry, particularly to increase the ease of transportation and handling of numerous products. Its use includes attaching items to pallets, bundling together objects such as newspapers, and securing loads on trucks.

PET strappings are characterized by high elongation and high tensile strength. In addition, their tension remains constant in a wide variety of environmental conditions. For example, heat and ultraviolet radiation do not have a significant effect on the material’s tension. This characteristic, along with the strong ability of absorbing shocks, make PET strappings an extremely valid and useful alternative to the use of metal strappings in transportation.

Compared to steel, PET strapping also has the advantage of being less expensive, lighter, and safer to handle. In addition, no rust formation occurs, aiding in keeping the transported goods in a cleaner state. For collection programs to succeed, it is important for consumers to be educated on the identification and disposal of PET materials. Today, many companies are starting to introduce strap choppers. These machines transform the used PET strapping, which becomes a waste after the goods have been delivered, into small pieces. The use of this procedure has several advantages for all the parties involved in the process of waste disposal. To start, PET wastes are reduced in volume and are easier to handle and transport. This increases the space available to companies, which often had yards filled with PET strapping. The chopped strapping is bought for higher amounts of money by scrap dealers, who are eager to pay more for this scrap that is easier for them to carry from the company’s premises to a recycling plant. The way in which PET strapping is being dealt with by companies for which PET represents a waste is a very interesting example of cooperation between end-users and recycling companies. This solution represents an advantage for both sides, both logistically and economically. At the same time, the recycling process is facilitated, with consequent benefits for the environment.
